It seems, in the world of aerial photography, that quadcopters are the in thing in hovering camera platforms.

After spending an age, okay a few weeks, looking at various quadcopters and places to buy them I decided to take the plunge and buy an xAircraft x650.

I must admit that my decision was heavily based on the fact that a large x650 owers' thread exists on rcgroups: x650 Owners thread - thinking it must be okay if all these people have one and there will be plenty of peoiple to get advice from.

xAircraft x650Anyway I got it the other day and spent two days putting it together and, by God, the thing works!

I've only had one rubbish flight with it in windy conditions and broke the landing gear. I have since learnt that the firbreglass landing gear is a bit tougher so I've fitted her with those instead. I have also been shown how to set up my Futaba with end points and expo setting to make quadcopters easier to fly.

So far I'm really pleased with the x650 and think it will be a good machine after a bit of practice. I have ordered a compass and GPS module and I'm very excited to see the effects of these two additions.
