I went to a friend's wedding last week, well technically I guess it was the wedding of two friends, at a bunk barn and campsite in the Yorkshire Dales. I had thought of filming the wedding itself with aerial photography from the quadcopter, but realised I wouldn't be able to take part in the wedding as I'd have to be in the next field or something. I also thought the buzz of the motors might be a bit of an annoyance. Anyway, so I opted for doing aerial video of the surrounding area, as it was very beautiful, and some of the arriving wedding guests. There was a lot of rain and it was very windy, but I managed to get some aerial filming in between the rain while struggling against the wind. Well, I say struggling but it was more like compensating for the wind. You can see in some of the shots that someone bought a kind of streamer thingy that spins around in the wind - this proved to be very useful to me as a wind-sock, gauging the windspeed and wind direction. I'm always surprised with what I can achieve with this relatively inexpensive little quadcopter - even in the harsh windy conditions high up in the Yorkshire Dales. |
