This video shows something I've been thinking of doing for a long time. Across the street from where I live there's this little niche of houses that you get to by walking under a high roofed arch. I keep looking at this roof and wondering if I'd be able to fly a quadcopter over the top of it and walk underneath at the same time. The main difficulty is that I would have to lose sight of the quadcopter as it flies over the roof and I walk/run underneath. The other problem is that there always seems to be some kind of breeze blowing down our street, which would send the quadcopter sideways in a way that would be difficult to control if you couldn't see it. Anyway, last night I went for a walk to get something to eat after the rain had stopped. I noticed that everything was very calm with no wind at all, not even a slight breeze, which is very unusual - so I decided I simply must have a go at flying somewhere in town as, aside from getting a bit dark, the conditions were perfect for quadcopter flying. Then, when I got back home and brought the quadcopter out I had the innevitable thought of flying over the high roofed archway again. Well, I thought there may never be a better time so I went head and tried it. The interesting thing about this video is that after the archway bit, I had no idea where I was going to go next. I was going to land the quadcopter and go home right after the archway stuff, but something in my brain made me keep going, probably because of the idealm conditions. The outcome is that this video turned into one of the bravest one I've tried yet, flying down some very narrow streets, over rooftops and cars and people. Also, because it is on the edge of darkness, the quadcopter aerial video colours have a kind of surreal quality. |
