Gaui 330X Quadcopter Journey to York Minster Deans Park

I've decided That I really like the idea of making rc flying videos of jouneys, from one place to another, as opposed to simply flying my quadcopter around the same place.

I think quadcopter jouneys make more interesting videos for people to watch. Obviously if there is a really interesting subject to buzz around, it's different, or if someone has specifically asked me to photograph something that is also different, but I think in general taking the viewer on a little journey is a nice idea - especially when there are interesting things to see on the way.

In this video I set off at the beginning of an old York street called Ogleforth, turn left past Grays Court onto Chapter House Road then right onto Minster Yard past theTreasurers House. The big house with the nice garden that I hover up to see is called the Deanery, which is the home of the Dean of York Minster, the guy in charge of York Minster's finances, and in a lot of ways a nicer house than the Archbishop's Palace in Bishopthorpe outside York. The Deanery may look old but the current house was only built in 1939. However, it is on top of a Roman fortress - the Principia - that was once home to York's Roman Legion. It was also the location of the Archbishop's Palace before that was moved out to Bishopthorpe, a few miles south of York along the river Ouse.

After the Deanery I turn left into the York Minster Dean's Park and fly around the trees until I end up at the opposite entrance where I stop because there is a lot of wind against me and too many people for it to be safe.

There was a breeze all the way through but the Gaui 330X S coped very well with it, but when you get to the north side of York Minster there is often a wind tunnel type effect along that street and, though I could have battled against it, there are lots of tourist around there and taxis and bicycles - in other words too many variables to worry about on my own.

This is one of my favourite videos so far:
