I've been getting a lot of aerial video practice in with my Gaui 330 X S and narrow streets. In this video I walked quite far, from Bartle Garth, down Spen Lane and back up Aldwark in York. It's still quite nerve wracking flying in such public places, but on the plus side it increases one's concentration and it makes flying in more open spaces seem very easy - flying over wedding marquees and race tracks to make aerial videos is easy compared to flying down historical streets with obstacles like trees, people, cars, bicycles and side winds from connecting steets and alleyways. One of the tricky parts was where the quadcoptyer is flying over a line of parked cars because that little section of street often has taxis whizzing up it, so I had to walk on the footpath to the left while flying the quadcopter in front and to the right. The pub down the bottom of the street is called the Black Swan, it is one of the oldest pubs in York and has been around since before Shakespeare's time. Of ocurse, it is also said to be haunted. The area behind the pub will eventually be built up with a massive housing and shopping mall project, so it's interesting to get this video in before that happens. The other thing I like about this aerial quadcopter video is that I filmed it at 9PM and it's still like daytime. This is one of the advantages of living so far north of the equator, super long days during the summer. However, it also means we have very short days in winter - so it will be nice to rewatch videos like these when it's cold and dark in December, to remind me of the nice summer approaching. |
