This is the on board video, aerial video of the flight around Homestead Park in York. You can see some of the external video here. It had been snowing the previous two weeks and was very cold, but the freezing weather ceased at the end of the week and we've started to see some warmer weather - hopefully heralding the winding up of Winter. Most of the snow has gone but, as you can see in the aerial video, there is still a bit left in Homestead Park, and the ornate fish pond is frozen over. During the spring and summer the fish pond is a very nice feature, with lovely pond life and Koi Carp and lilly pads. However, I do think that it looks rather startlingly beautiful in its frozen state, in which I've never seen it before. The flight times were a little longer with the DJI Wookong Hexa than of late due to the air temperature being a bit warmer than it has been for while. When it was well below freezing I was lucky to get three minutes flying time per battery, 4S 3900 mah lipo, but this was increased to about five minutes on this day. In the heat of summer it will be closer to ten minutes. My favourite elements of this aerial video were the colours I wasn't expecting to see in Winter, flying amongst the tress, landing on the ice (a dare by my acolyte Kevin), and not having freezing cold, numb hands for the first time outside in a month. |
